Our letter to Slava
Greetings my son. How are you doing?
We have been blessed to learn that Alla has agreed to bring you a letter from us and some small treats. I hope that you will remember to thank her.

It is getting warmer here. The snow is gone and we are working in the yard to make it beautiful. We need your help!

We are still waiting to hear when we can come get you and bring you home. We hope that you are as excited about becoming our son as we are. We are hopeful that we will travel in early summer to Russia to legally make you our son and bring you home to Michigan. Maybe June, maybe July. Can you wait that long and have hope? We can!

On April 16th, we will celebrate Easter holiday with Grandmother, Grandfather, Uncle and Aunt. They will come to eat dinner at our house. I am going to try to make a Russian bread for this special holiday to remember you. Next year after you are home, I will make it even better!

I am sorry that we have not talked to you on the phone, but do not think that we have forgotten you or that we don't love you. While you might think that a cellular phone will let you call us, that's not true. It is too far for an American phone to send a signal and we would still need to have permission.

We remember you always and pictures of you and the three of us are on my desk, by our bed, and at our desks at work. We always remember you. And certainly, we love you very much. You are our son!

Do you still remember any English words? What food would you like the first day you are home again? Have you thought about what color you would like your room to be?

I will not forget to pack your Leapfrog game and some toys when we travel to Russia to bring you home. I do not think I can pack every toy in a suitcase, but it will all be waiting for you when you arrive home. Have you gotten taller? Are your feet longer? I will need to pack some clothes and shoes for you to wear also. I am excited!

And now I should send this letter to you. Remember that we love you very much Slava. As soon as the government says "Come, get your son!", we shall get on a plane and fly to you. You will come home with us and we will be a family. Do not lose hope. You are our strong boy with the fearless heart.

We love you son,

Mama & Pop
